One of those chaotic days. Crashes, riders injured and big GC favourites losing a whole bunch of time. Our bestest of wishes to those injured and much respect to those soldiering on.
Accent Jobs-Verandas Willems have been in a sewer, Radio Luxembourg loitered in a car park for a week, Omega Pharma-Quick Step ran badly and froze in outdoor pursuits and now here’s Rabobank clearly have a trying time in Fuerteventura.

Quality breakaway consisting of Andy Schleck, Ivan Basso, Thomas Peterson and Laurens Ten Dam (Javier Acevedo having been kicked out the break by Schleck and Basso). Co-operation failed them in the final kilometres and they were swept up by the sprinting pack.
