I’m afraid that I do not know. If they have a contract in place then, in keeping with what we know so far, it seems possible they will honour the financial commitment but not have any branding/promotion in place.
I’ve not read anything specific about races they are involved in though but if anyone else knows (maybe something from the Dutch press?) then do leave a comment.  Ta much.

  5. Rabobank

Maybe a post about the news in cycling:

Rabobank stops the sponsorship of the professionale Rabobank Cycling Team due to all the doping news…

Also interesting news for all the bargains the other cycling teams now can do (for riders like L.L. Sanchez, Boom, Breschel, Renshaw,…)

    Just saying ;-)

    ———————————————————————————-

    mod note:

Also “just saying” (one of my least favourite phrases!), I’ve not posted about any of the Lance Armstrong/USADA fall-out because it’s huge and tumblr doesn’t always lend itself to text discussion too well.

It’s excellent for posting pictures and links but discussing Paul Kimmage being sued, the USADA report, Matt White, Johan Bruyneel and Levi Leipheimer losing their jobs, the continuing Italian investigation surrounding Michele Ferrari and now Rabobank withdrawing its sponsorship….it’s hard to know where to start with that or if its what people want to see on their dashboard. Plus people could often get touchy about Lance-related subjects, maybe not the case so much now? I’m not sure…

What I will do is leave a link to the comments section here and if anyone wants to chime in on whether they’d appreciate updates on this - or anything else - then let us know.

As I understand it, Rabobank is honouring their money commitments so the team will go continue next year but with a “white label”, no branding.  It’s sad but there were rumours of the bank being uncertain before the publication of the USADA Reasoned Decision document, so maybe it was a final straw.

This wasn’t meant to be so long but thank you for getting in touch and suggesting this, it’s good to have food for thought.  I’m definitely going to get some Rabobank memories popped in the queue, it’ll be sad not to see the orange and blue kit in the peloton next year.
