June 2012
co-mod Sarah: Mostly, I just root for the guys I like (Sylvain Chavanel, Tony Martin, Adam Hansen, etc) to do well. I don’t have a pick for overall, nor do I care much.
co-mod Natalie: If there is one thing I’d like to see it would be a stage win for Edvald Boasson Hagen! As for GC, I’m not invested in one rider in particular. I’m happy enough that unlike last year, everyone stays fracture-free so we can get and good a proper battle for the victory.
I can’t speak for co-mod Natalie, but here are my thoughts. Personally, I believe that Armstrong, like the rest of his contemporaries, doped. I used to believe he should be charged, etc. But recently I’ve realized that, to me, I don’t care if they can prove it or not. It’s not really important to cycling anymore nor is it important to me, as a fan.
Why? The reason is because cycling, as a sport (as well as anti-doping agencies), should focus on the future. They need to get over themselves, and the past. Stop talking about Armstrong, stop giving him more attention and let the past go. The peloton has far bigger problems than a retired pro who probably doped like everyone else.
Not everyone agrees with me, but if you’d like to have a discussion among yourselves, please use the comments of those post.

co-mod natalie opinion: I’m glad the case is being progressed. There is a lot of bluster from Lance Armstrong (real public opinion offensive being waged) but it’s really important not to lose track of the fact that he is one of five men in this case: Pedro Celaya (Radioshack doctor), Johan Bruyneel (Radioshack manager), Michele Ferrari (notorious physician) and Luis de Moral (doctor, currently working with French Open finalist Sara Errani). It’s not just about one man, it’s about a doping system on a grand scale.
I understand people wanting to move on but for me as a fan, I think it’s important that this is seen through to the end, whatever that outcome may be.
Please note, this is in no way a comment on anyone affected by cancer and has found support and courage via the Livestrong ethos.
The Tour de France is almost upon us! Co-mod Natalie and I have decided to open up a fantasy TDF mini league for FYC on Velogames (more about Velogames’ fantasy TDF). We formly invite all of you to join us.
First, sign up for an account on Velogames, then create your TDF team (it’ll be fun, I promise) — you have until 2pm CET on June 30th to sign up, I believe.
Once you’ve submitted your team, you can join our mini league by entering this number: 29154929 on the League Manager section of your team page. It should list FYC as one of your leagues.
Feel free to use the comments of this post to discuss your team. If we get enough people in our league, we’ll check in a few times throughout the tour.
Thanks for joining us for the 2012 TDF!

Reblogging to remind everyone there’s still time to sign up!
EDIT: As of 11:57 PM (ET), we have 34 teams!
